Antara cerita2 pengalaman tsunami…
- Dina-masa tuh tgh gotong royong di skolah, lepas tuh, ader org jerit2 air laut dah kering, semua org pon kuar dr skolah nak tgk, tp tibe2 air naik tinggi sgt, dina dgn kwn pon lari, lari kuat2 masuk masjid, ramai sgt org kat masjid waktu tuh, mase tuh baju semua da koyak2, teringat mamak di rumah, bila da abes banjir, dina blk umah, cari bapak, jumpa dgn abang, abang bwk jumpa bapak, tp sampai skarang tak jumpa mamak, tak tahulah mamak di mana…
- Makcik di suak timah-masa banjir tuh, air tinggi bangat, lebey tinggi dr pokok kelapa, dlm air tuh, semua ada, manusia, kerbau, anjing, pokok, zink, semualah..anak aku dgn suami waktu tuh, tah di mana pon enggak tahu, masa dlm air tuh, ade satu bende berpusing-pusing keliling aku, ingtkn ape, bila aku capai,Ya Tuhan, anak aku!..tuh ar, anak yg 2 taun tuh(mase tuh anaknya tgh main kat luar) die dah keras tp masih bernafas, aku angkat, pegang dia kuat2, dlm fikiran masa tuh, apa da jddgn suami aku?mase tuh hanya berdoa pd Tuhan mintak diselamatkan.

“MISI PELAJAR MENDEKATI ACEH”
On Saturday, 6th August 2005, I ‘ve joined a trip to Aceh. There were 12 of us, 10 medical students (zue, raudah, usop, shuib, muhaimin, acab, johan, israq, zuhdi and me) including a doctor and israq’s mum. We departured from KLIA at 8 pm and arrived an hour later. From Medan, we travelled to Aceh by van.
The journey took about 17 hours before we finally reached Meulaboh. The girls (zue, raudah, makcik and me) were then sent to a female orphanage. The orphans were very happy to meet us. We spent time with them for about 2 days; we talk together, help them with their homework’s, help them to iron their uniforms, prepare them before going to school. They were very friendly as if they already knew us for a long time. It was a sweet memory. I hope that I’ll be able to see them again one day.
From Meulaboh, we moved to a village nearby, Suak Timah and Cok Darat, where we set up our mobile clinic there. It was a valuable experience to join such clinic as I have much opportunity to meet different kinds of people (some of them dun even understand what u re talking) and variety of illnesses. I have the chance to clerk the patient, take bp, examine their eye and ear (which I initially dun remember how to use that thing although I’ve been taught once) and prescribed their medications (hopefully I gave them the right tablets =) Besides, I also have the chance to meet the villagers there where we prayed together and have ‘tazkirah’. The thing that I won’t forget for my entire life is the condition where we stayed; there wasn’t a proper toilet when we first arrived! Another thing is that when we took a boat to get to another village (Lhok Bubon). I was quite frustrated when we have to go back to the jetty again and took our van instead as our boat cannot land there. However, this is really a precious experience I’ve ever had…hope to see u again aceh…

What makes a good doctor?
How do u define good? The Oxford Dictionary surprisingly devotes a full page on this word. Thus it means; inter-alia: (a) having the right qualities (dedication, knowledge etc); (b) commendable; (c) morally excellent, virtuous; (d) kind, benevolent; (e) agreeable; (f) reliable; (g) amiable; (h) soundness of judgment, and (i) practical wisdom
A good doctor is sincere, dedicated and courteous. He is able to complement his medical knowledge and clinical judgement with humanistic qualities of integrity, respect and compassion. He sees his patients as fellow human beings and not as a ‘case’ with an illness. A good doctor is one who not only demonstrates professional competence, but also one who manifests personal qualities of patience, maturity and confidence. He listens attentively to his patients’ complaints and tries to answer all their questions to the best of his knowledge. With his older patients, he does not attribute their medical problems to old age and equate aging with mental and physical decline. He is sensitive to his patients’ special needs, particularly their emotional needs and general well-being. He avoids robotic prescription of drugs but rather, helps his patients identify the underlying causes of their problems. His patients are comfortable about discussing even their sexual problems with him. Last but not least, he treasures his relationship with his patients based upon mutual respect and open communication.
